You were never the means to my end. You were the end that I wanted. You were the one I wanted to chase. You were the warmth on my skin atop the glow of the rising sun. You were the burgundy blends of the sunset that I wanted to hold on to.

But you slipped through my fingers like water. You left like the hazy mist in the morning when the sun peeks over the distant mountains. You were gone like the reflection of the setting sun, slow at first, then sudden, leaving me in the dark underneath a perpetual night. You left me with nothing but the thought of you, a small glow in the dark crevice of my mind that won't go out.
